500 views with only 2 posts. I'm delighted. Wasn't expecting that whatsoever!!
ANYWAY !!!
Yes believe it or not ! My best friend is Holly Carpenter, Miss Ireland 2011
So this isnt just a post about how she won and how amazing she is!
Its just about how I viewed it all.
It all started when I started in NCAD last year,
Out in the Red Square . The day after the Freshers Ball. We randomly started talking about the Ball and she started talking about this crazy drunken boy she loved that was dressed up as candyfloss who was obviously in fashion and told her his costume was better then hers !!(she was also dressed as candy floss) I told her that was me !!
She didn't believe me till I showed her a photo on my phone ,
I told her that her hair was green and ever since we have been best friends ha.
We share the same sense of humor so we never seem to fight
Because we just laugh at each other.
I couldn't ask for a better friend.
SOOOO..... As we became closer as friends we started talking about the Miss University Pageant and That I thought she should represent Miss Ncad .
Next thing we knew she was in the final in Dandelion.
I was thrilled for her . But of course the next thing was what was she gonna wear ? (we all know this is the first thing that passes through our heads :S ha,)
She knew that I just got a job as a stylist for some shoots and was so happy for me so she asked me would I help her out for the competition ,
I was thrilled !!!
We worked on her bikini that she made her self , I fitted it on her and told her how to sew it and she done the rest , I was actually so proud of her as sad as it sounds ! she is truly talented when it comes to textiles.
We organized her ''going out look'' personally I didnt want the tacky lipsy dress look.
So we went with a pair of daisy duke shorts, black vest top, flowey turquoise green open blouse with magpie print.
Paired off with leather clog heels with faux fur around the tops , after all she would have to be alternative shes in NCAD!! :)
Her dress was from Lara a fabulous boutique owned by Lara Casey ,
The staff were lovely in it also especially Ciara o Connor the store manager.
We went in a day after college the store was manic with girls getting dresses for Miss University.
We tried on a few and they weren't really what we were looking for .
But I had my eye on a dress that was already in another changing room , once the girl left I swiped the dress and Holly then wore it for the competition.
I was known as the stage mom lol , well that's what I was called, a pushy stage mom !! (of course i loved it )
As we already know she went on to take the title that night!!
She had alot of support that night we were front row with a giant banner saying go holly
(I still have a scar where derv, our friend, stabbed me with it when holly won )
That was it she now had to go for Miss Ireland!!!!
The preparations started within the next couple of weeks,
But you have to remember we had end of year consolidation project to do.
This was to determine if we got into the next year or not.
It was so much work and alot of stress!
Tbh I really don't know how she handled it. Working, Modeling, Uni work and then preparing for Miss Ireland and also trying to fit in a social life.
I honestly think this is when we REALLY became best friends we understood that both of us had such busy lives , I was in uni , had 3 jobs and a full time sport.
During the summer I styled her for numerous event and done her hair (like she even needed my help)
But as time went on before we even realized it was July and Miss Ireland was a month away
This far off distant thing that we kept thinking it was ages away!!
Then the Miss Ireland press calls started and I knew it was the start of something big.
In my opinion it was her modeling experience that gave her the edge!
In my eyes she shone beyond the rest but that's a bias opinion ha
from meeting the girls and seeing the shots my favorites apart from Holly where Jessica Langan , Rebbeca Maher , Annemarie Elliot , Aishing Alcock, Rebbeca Maguire(my on the night favorite ) and Faye Rooney
I was so shocked that Jessica Langan didn't get into top 7 .
I think she has a future ahead of her shes stunning with an amazing personality.
But at least 3 of my favorites were in the top 3 :)
I was honored at the fact that I got to come and help choose her evening gown from Lara on Dame Lane in Dublin City Center
The shop was redecorated since the last time id visited it and it looks amazing with some stunning new stock in.
They have such a lovely array of Jovani dresses.
Which was the designer of the dress holly wore.
She looked breath taking in it
SO the night finally came !!
my nerves were shot ,
I got ready in Kate mc Cormacks house our mutual bestie ha, both of us were a nervous wreck ha
I didnt get to see Holly for 4 days before the competition (which near killed me ha )
So when I saw her in her sash and her cocktail dress I was rather emotional ha (there was no tears but,...Ya know) you wish your friends the best in life and hope they always do well so to see her looking sensational and knowing how hard she actually worked for this and how driven, professional and determined she was the whole summer, knowing it all paid off was an amazing feeling.

The night was amazing the show was organized by Brendan Scully and Sean Montague an absloutley amazing show i really couldn't fault the night whatsoever.
Also got talking to them the next day such funny and nice guys .
So obviously holly got the whole way through to the top 7.
At this stage I was shaking with nerves and excitement.
I saw holly smile at me and I knew she was delighted that she got that far.
So after the grueling interview stage
they took a break then decided to announce the top 3.
Nerves had taken over I was like a shaking mess ,
They called the 1st runner up Ashling Alcock. I was delighted for her shes stunning and seems to have a lovely heart.
They called runner up : Rebbeca Maguire , she was my on the night favorite I thought she was stunning.
Finally winner Holly Carpenter,
We where all delighted at the table, everyone was either screaming or crying with happiness , not gonna lie I was a little bit of both ha ,
The night went on and we ended up in Buck Whaleys
Little to packed Tbh, but it was an after party
Then we all went home and drank tea and chated about corrie ...aye right !!!!
But I have to say I don't know of anyone who worked as hard and deserved something so much so I'm delighted to say that shes the new Miss Ireland 2011.
NOT delighted when she woke me up the next day to do her hair for a press call but I suppose that's the life of a stage mom ..
